A physiatrist is a specialist in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. The main goal of physiatry is to restore function & to improve quality of life. Physiatrist are trained in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of multiple disorders/conditions including: Strokes, Neurological Disorders, Chronic & Acute Painful Conditions, Traumatic Brain Injury, Orthopaedic conditions, Cardiopulmonary disorders, Deconditioning, Spasticity, Gait Abnormalities, Amputee & Prosthetic Restoration, and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. Physiatrist are also skilled in Electrodiagnostic testing & Orthotic fitting. Dr. Hobbs incorporates general physiatry when appropriate but his practice primarily focuses on acute and chronic pain management, sports medicine, occupational medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, nonsurgical spine management, & interventional pain procedures.
